Cork City is the second largest city in Ireland. The Lough is a 4-hectare lake located in the centre of the City and is a unique coarse angling area. Anglers must note however that the Lough is also an important wildfowl area, and the water attracts many birds including large numbers of Swans. Therefore care is essential to make sure that hooks or line are not allowed to become mis-placed around the shore areas.
The Lough is primarily a Carp fishery that produced the Record Irish Carp (29 lbs. 13 ozs.) caught in 1988. Each year the majority of Irish Specimen Carp are caught in this lake. The water also holds Eel and small quantities of Tench, Perch and Rudd.
